Random Triathlon thoughts:
My first race was Wrightsville Beach in 2002. With next to no training and a blistering hangover I attacked the course in 1:54. I followed that up in the next year with a last place age group finish in Surf City. It then came to mind that if you actually train you will perform better in races. The rest is history. My favorite thing to do is introduce people to the triathlon community. It started with my wife Rebecca and daughter Hannah. Both of them love to train and race. It definitely helps when everyone in the family understands the commitment needed to be successful.
Last year I recruited 20 people from my office at Coldwell Banker Sea Coast to race at Wrightsville Beach. Most were first timers and have embraced the lifestyle.
Triathlon is one of the few sports where it is great to get older! I aged up this year.
My long term goal is to win my age group at Wrightsville Beach in 2040 in the 80-84 age group.
