1. I remember a few years ago my wife Tracy and I sat and at breakfast at Salt Works and watched the triathlon bikers wiz by. I then realized I had distanced myself from athletics and needed to get my self in gear. Then January ’09 a friend said “a few of us are going to do the YMCA tri” The timing was right so I signed up.  As I went from “Couch Tater” to “Tri Tater” I kept signing up for more tri’s.
  2. The balancing act is hard; work isn’t the challenge as I have a predictable 8-5 schedule. But, I have two young boys and I don’t like to miss a second with them; and Tracy is now training. I try to get as much done before 7am as possible; I squeeze a lot of running, swimming in the mornings, but the long weekend bike rides or runs are tough. I envisioned us training together, but the reality is that we swap turns tending the kids.   Hopefully this year we can do more of the weekend stuff together.
  3. Good training tip- don’t be scared to ask for advice; I have found the Tri community to be the most helpful, inspiring group of people I’ve encountered. I am the one still getting the tips at this point.
  4. I am proud of all the races last year, had a rough start early season with some poor swims. I tried to find the positive in each race, and work on the negative harder. I set my sights for a decent B2B half race and trained for the long haul. It felt like it all fell into place and I had a decent race; So I am pleased overall with the season
  5. Inspirations- my sister is battling advanced melanoma. I think about her every hour, and how life can change quickly. I want to “live my dash”. That’s the meaningful things in life between the year of birth and death. 1970-     What’s your dash?
