I became a triathlete when B2B was advertised in a local magazine. I signed up on January 1, 2008 for the 1/2 distance. I had never been on a road or tri bike before and definitely was not a swimmer. Since then I have competed in distances from sprints to full iron triathlons. I am proud of all my races and really try to focus on enjoying the moment.
I love how triathlons push me outside of my comfort zone. I truly enjoy all aspects of the sport and lifestyle. I have lots of mantras that run through my mind when I am training and racing. Lots of times I'll think-just keep going or repeat my kids names, Finn and Ryder. There are tons of cliches that you can apply to triathlons. My two favorites are, "One day I will not be able to do this, today is not that day," and "It won't take long, it won't be easy, it will take all of your breath." Most importantly I want my kids to be proud of me and grow up in a healthy, positive and active environment.
