I became a triathlete for two reasons the first being I wanted to countinue to swim and that was the easiest way to race.  The second and most important is I wanted to test myself to figure out what was possible for me to do.

I balance everything by getting up early to train and having a great job with the Wilmington Fire Dept. that allows me a good deal of time off.

My tip would be to keep it fun and dont over do it.  A whole bunch of people first get into the sport and sign up for every race and burn out after a short while.

The race I am most proud of was the white lake half of 2008.  Because I puked on the bike and had a blister on my foot the size of a tennis ball during the run and missed my PR by an hour and a half.  It was my worst race by far.  I am most proud of that race because I believe that you learn more about yourself in defeat than in victory.

My inspirations are John Blais and David Goggins
