Hello Team,

I hear the distance from the pool to T1 is a trek on its own! Are you able to have some sort of footwear ready at the end of the swim to wear for this portion?

I also read somewhere that you should fill your tires the night before and not the morning of. Any truth to this, any reason for it?

What other recommendation would you have for a 1st time tri and or a 1st time Azaler?

Thank you all in advance for the feedback!

Ren

Ren,
The distance from the pool exit, down the concrete stairwell, out the door, down the sidewalk, past the tennis courts and through the transition area is about 200-300 yards from what I can remember. I almost always use Pyro Power Platforms for Azalea race instead of cycling shoes. This way I can put on my racing flats as soon as I exit the pool door, before the first timing mat, and have shoes to run the distance to my bike. Or, you can get elastic laces in your running shoes, have them at the pool door, put them on just to run to your bike, change into bike shoes and then race. This will work too. ORRRR.... you can just tuff it and run barefooted like most folks do. This works.

Filling your tires night before just eliminates one more thing race morning. Sometimes I will put in 10 extra pounds of pressure, knowing some will leak out by race time. Good luck.
